For the fourth consecutive year, the Honorary Consulate of Brazil in Cyprus and the Pharos Trust present the Brazilian Culture Month, a series of events dedicated to the arts and culture of Brazil. The events which are organised in collaboration with the Brazilian Embassy in Cyprus, showcase aspects of Brazilian culture through art, music, dance, films and books and they have become a very popular part of Cyprus’ cultural life.

The Brazilian Culture Month welcomes for the first time in Cyprus the Brazilian singer Ive Mendes in an evening of soul and pop Brazilian music, at the Half Note Music Club in Limassol.

Dubbed the ‘Brazilian Sade’, Ive Mendes has already made a mark for herself in her home country, Europe and Asia. Born in Ceres, Brazil to a family of Spanish, French, Portuguese and Brazilian heritage, Ive Mendes brings a cosmopolitan timbre to unmistakably measured Brazilian grooves. Her songs, representing the Nu-Brazil style, are a beautiful bilingual blend of English and Portuguese, mixing tradition, soul and pop, accompanied by a tender mix of bossanova beats, slinky acoustic guitar and airy percussion.

Ive's talent and popularity was initially spotted by a producer from Rio, a collaboration which led to recordings in both Rio and Sao Paolo. In 1999 Ive Mendes moved to London, where, with the help of award winning producer Robin Millar and record label, Mr Bongo, she produced her first album; a self-titled and almost entirely self-written debut set.  Album producer Robin Millar, with his productions of Sade, Everything But the Girl and Fine Young Cannibals has achieved sales of over 50 million to date.

The combination of her sweetly soulful voice, sultry personality and incredible talent for writing and singing will surely win her new fans here too.
